Wind-induced vibration analysis and rectification
The static, dynamic and aeroelastic effects of wind are an important consideration in many civil engineering projects. Wind engineering minimises wind-related risks and can significantly affect construction and maintenance costs.
Combining specialist expertise, computational methods, wind tunnel testing, structural monitoring and field measurements, we deliver precise wind-induced studies of wind-challenged structures and architecture.
We provide advice to structural engineering, bridge engineering, architecture, offshore and transport clients worldwide. Typical applications include bridges, tall buildings, special structures and city planning.
Services optimised in terms of cost and time
We routinely use wind tunnel testing to produce high-quality results, leading to technically and economically-optimised structures. Our own facility in Finland is one of the few large-scale boundary-layer wind tunnels in Europe.
To avoid duplication or unnecessary work, we tailor our services to both need and budget. In WSP’s multidisciplinary projects, we will act as truly integrated part of the design team.
We also advise on the transportation of masts and turbine components, with experience in assessing and mitigating impacts on both national and local road networks.
