WSP is planning the decking-over of the Norra Station area

WSP has been commissioned with planning the decking-over of the Norra Station area in Stockholm. In collaboration with the National Swedish Road Administration, Region Stockholm, the assignment also includes planning capacity-increasing measures for the Norra Länken bypass's connections to Essingeleden and Klarastrandsleden.

To facilitate development within the Norra Station area, Stockholm City, in collaboration with Solna Municipality and the property companies Locum and Akademiska Hus, intends to put the Värtabanan railway and highways E4/E20 together with their connecting ramps to Norrtull and Norra Länken into tunnels.

WSP has been bought by Stockholm City's Development Administration to plan the tunnelling in (decking over) of the Norra Station area. The order also includes planning of capacity increasing measures regarding the road network concerned, in collaboration with the National Swedish Road Administration, Stockholm Region.

"We are very proud to have been entrusted with taking part in this extremely interesting and technically complicated project, which will contribute towards creating the conditions for a new integrated area of the city including housing, offices, trade, research and a new university hospital," says Ove Staflin, WSP's regional manager. "The plan is for the consultancy assignment in its entirety to be completed in 2010, and the start of construction is planned for 2009."
